Member Services from Horizons FCU
Horizons Federal Credit Union offers a wide range of services to it's members.
NEW! eStatements: Horizons now offers another level of service - a secure and fee-free alternative to paper statements, called eStatements, through CU @ Home.
Direct Deposit: Horizons FCU will accept any direct deposit from any employer who offers this service to its employees. By choosing Direct Deposit, members save themselves a trip to the credit union to make a deposit. In addition, members may have unlimited distribution of their direct deposit within Horizons FCU. Travelers Checks: American Express Travelers Checks are available to Horizon FCU members for a minimal fee. Please see the fee schedule for details.
Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) Cards: Horizons FCU offers its members Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) Cards that can be used for withdrawing cash, making deposits, and transferring funds between savings and checking accounts (if available at the ATM machine). Up to $500 may be withdrawn per day (maximum of 2 transactions per day) provided the member has the funds available from one or a combination of accounts. Members get six free "cash" transactions per month and are charged $.75 cents for each "cash" transaction over six. To report lost or stolen ATM cards, immediately call Horizons FCU at (607) 724-5876. Horizons is not responsible for fees charged by other institutions. Horizons ATM Cards can be used as debit cards at a variety of locations, including:
VISA Credit Card: Horizons FCU offers a VISA Classic Credit Card at a low fixed rate on both purchases and cash advances to members 16 years of age and older. More about the VISA Credit Card.
Horizons Debit/Check Card: Horizons Debit/Check Cards allow Horizons FCU members the convenience of paying for purchases by using a card instead of their checkbook. More about the Debit/Check Card.
Electronic Fund Transfers: Horizons FCU allows its members to have funds withdrawn from their savings and checking accounts and electronically transferred to utility companies, business and other financial institutions, it they offer electronic payment services. Money Orders: Travelers Express Money Orders up to $500 are available to Horizons FCU members. There is a $1.50 charge for each money order.
Teller Checks: Horizons FCU members may obtain Teller Checks. There is a $1 per-check fee for each check under $1,000 and not payable to the member. Members must know the exact amount and to whom the check is payable when they visit either Horizons location.
Loan Protection: Members of Horizons FCU may obtain up to $30,000 of Disability Insurance, and up to $55,000 of Life Insurance to protect their outstanding balances. Disability insurance has a 14-day non-retroactive clause, an age limit of 66 and a maximum term of 120 months. 70 is the age limit on life insurance coverage and the maximum term is 180 months. Free $1,000 of Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance: All Horizons FCU members ages 18 and up are eligible for $1,000 of 24-Hour Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. The Credit Union pays the premiums. In order to receive a Certificate of Insurance, members must complete and mail in an application form. Members may receive additional insurance and the premium will be deducted from their primary savings account quarterly. More about the Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Shared Service Center Access: There is a Shared Service Center at 2531 Vestal Parkway, Vestal, NY, that is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Shared Service Center also has a 24-hour drive through ATM location for cash withdrawals and check/cash deposits. Limited transactions can be performed at the Shared Service Center. Please call Horizons for more details.
Legal Day: Horizons FCU offers free expert advice on legal matters. Legal Day is the last Tuesday of each month. Appointments are required. Please contact Horizons at 724-5876 to set up an appointment of if you need more information. See Savings Rates for Investment Options.
